The Best Yoga Clothes For Your Bikram Yoga Class
June 23rd, 2009 7:34 amAssuming you have read my last foray into the yoga clothes article world, “What Yoga Clothes Should I Wear To A Bikram Yoga Class”, you’ll remember that I told you that Bikram Yoga is a sort of “hot house yoga”. Now I’d like to further delve into the concept that there may be particular types of yoga clothes that you’ll want to buy for your next Bikram Yoga class.
Yoga Pants You realize that there are a number of differing models of yoga pants. You can get those Capri styles that only go to just below the knee, or choose a full length model. Some people just prefer to wear Bermuda shorts which are O.K.
Obviously you are going to have to choose between a more form fitting style and those flowing yoga pants that are so popular. The form fitting ones are great because they offer an opportunity for your instructor to be able to spot whether or not you are performing the poses right or not.
The advantage of flowing yoga pants is that they can hide areas of your body that you dont want revealed to the general public. This may be out of modesty or just because you dont look as good as you soon will.
Yoga Wear Tops I think you will find that choosing which yoga wear top to buy is very similar to buying those yoga pants. You still need to pick between tighter fitting or more loose and flowing garments. You might opt for a t-shirt style or even a tank top made of cotton or silk. I like to have an Om symbol on mine.
There are many styles to choose from when purchasing yoga wear tops so you will have an endless supply from which to pick for your hot and sweaty Bikram yoga class.
Yoga Shoes I don’t know how many people even bother with yoga shoes. Most folks just prefer to practice in their bare feet. Even so, there are a number of shoes designed specifically for yoga practice. You may want something like this if you ever find yourself wanting to practice on some stony beach in the Caribbean.
I know people who like to wear those little cotton bottomed tai chi shoes. But you might want something with a little more support, like what Puma and Adidas make. These companies are very sympathetic to yoga types.
To sum it all up, buy your yoga clothes because YOU like them. Choose wisely something practical, down to earth and above all, comfortable. You’ll thank yourself for it.
