Catuaba Bark Extract: Lower Stress

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Alternative healing methods were once the mainstream health treatments when people utilized the properties of various herbs. People are once again enjoying the benefits of many long revered herbs.

Catuaba bark is one of several herbs that contains many beneficial compounds that can be helpful to a number of health conditions. Catuaba bark refers to the bark of the Catuaba tree, which grows in the rainforests of Brazil.

Catuaba has a long history of use in herbal medicine as an aphrodisiac. The Tupi Indians in Brazil first discovered the aphrodisiac qualities of the plant and over the last few centuries they have composed many songs praising its wonders and abilities.

Indigenous and local peoples have used catuaba for generations. It is the most famous of all Brazilian aphrodisiac plants. In the Brazilian state of Minas there is a saying, “Until a father reaches 60, the son is his; after that, the son is catuaba’s!”

The Tupi Indians are credited with the discovery of catuaba as an aphrodisiac. Indigenous people have used the herb for many generations and attest to its effectiveness. Although catuaba bark is an effective aphrodisiac increasing sexual desire in both male and female, it is primarily used to enhance erection in males.

Catuapa bark contains alkaloids, tannins, resins, aromatic oils, falconoid and other constituents. Researchers in Japan discovered that catuapa contains powerful antiviral and antibacterial compounds. Rain-Tree.com states that a 1992 study indicated that catuaba extract was effective in protecting mice against E. coli and staph infection as well as significantly inhibiting HIV.

For generations, indigenous people have used catuaba bark not only as an aphrodisiac but also for many health benefits. It has been used to lessen pain, improve memory, calm anxiety and alleviate fatigue, among other benefits.

According to Michael van Straten, noted British author and researcher of medicinal plants, catuaba is beneficial to men and women as an aphrodisiac, but “it is in the area of male impotence that the most striking results have been reported” and “there is no evidence of side effects, even after long-term use.

The Power Of Subconscious Mind And The Universe

Monday, August 24th, 2009

The human mind is undeniably the most magnificent, and the most powerful thing in the universe, and the sheer power of the subconscious mind should never be underestimated. Irrespective what a person says or does, it all originates from the mind. In some cases, your actions are manifested on a subconscious level.

A perfect example of this can be witnessed when we sit down to watch TV. In some cases we don’t like what we’re watching and so we decide to change channels and watch something else instead. This is an action of the conscious mind. On other occasions, we reach for the remote and we flick through the different channels for no apparent reason. This of course is an action on the subconscious level, but have you ever stopped to think about what made you do it? Because this was an action on the subconscious level you probably never gave it a second thought.

How does something like this actually happen? In all probability, something came on TV which you don’t really like and your subconscious mind, knowing it was something you don’t like, triggered a reaction so that you wouldn’t have to endure it. This just goes to show how much of an impact your subconscious mind can have on the way a person behaves. This type of occurrence also helps to emphasize the importance of training yourself to use the power of your subconscious mind so that you can use it to improve the quality of your life to an extent you probably never believed to be possible.

What many people don’t realize is the fact that the power of the conscious mind is so vast that it’s almost unimaginable, and that providing you can learn how to harvest that power, you can live your life to the fullest. So often we are told that our subconscious mind is full of evils and darkness, and while it may be beneficial to understand the darker side of psychology, focusing entirely on negative aspects should be avoided altogether.

For this reason, it is essential to focus on the positive aspects rather than the negative ones, because in so doing, you’ll be able to take the best possible approach with regards to using the subconscious mind as a tool for improving the quality of your life. You can also be rest assured that rather than being a complex process, gaining control over your subconscious mind is instead a series of simple processes. By gaining control over the power of your subconscious mind, you’ll be opening a door to a world of unlimited opportunities.

In all likelihood, affirmations are probably the easiest way for you to gain control over your subconscious mind. As you may already know, affirmations is a method people use in order to remind themselves about certain aspects of their life so that it is possible for them to reach their goals.

If for example you were told that you had to draw up plans for a home, you would understandably be concerned, especially if you have never drawn up similar plans before. In fact, the very thought of it would probably leave you feeling tired and drained, which is of course a natural response to a stressful situation. However, when you’re feeling tired and you lack energy, the task of drawing up plans would seem even more daunting. On the other hand, by using affirmations it could be possible to overcome your negative state of mind which in turn would allow you to tackle the task more effectively. Now, let’s take a quick look at just how this can be accomplished.

In other words, you need to constantly remind yourself (affirmation) just how capable you are of doing the task, and how much you will benefit from it. You could even stand in front of the mirror and affirm that nobody is more capable of completing the task than you are. You need to convince yourself that you are in fact so capable, that by that time you’ve finished the task it will be almost unbelievable.

Of course, affirmations can also be used successfully to break certain habits such as smoking, drinking, or even overeating. Studies which have been carried out within a scientific framework have shown that the subconscious mind can be controlled with constant repetition of affirmations. This applies irrespective of whether you choose written or verbal affirmation.

Of course affirmation is not the only way to gain control over the power of the subconscious mind. In fact, post hypnotic suggestion has also proven to be successful and as such, it is a method which is often used. Post hypnotic suggestion can be done either by self hypnosis or by using the services of a qualified hypnotherapist. Those who choose to do it by means of self hypnosis will more often than not make use of various hypnosis audio recordings.

While both of the above mentioned methods are known to be highly effective, there is however another process which is still relatively new, and this involves synchronizing the brain waves of the two hemispheres in the brain. This process, known as binaural beats, employs the use of different sound frequencies played into each ear through a set of headphones. The frequencies used are only slightly different from each other but it is sufficient enough to result in an almost instantaneous meditative state of mind. Of course, it is this state of mind which is ideal in terms of allowing the conscious mind to communicate with the subconscious mind.

In fact, there is much evidence to suggest that this process can be taken even further. For example, Buddhist monks often have so much control over the power of their subconscious minds that they are able to perform actions which many consider to be supernatural. Perhaps you have read or seen some of these powers in action where monks are believed to be able to levitate and even become invisible.

Books such as ‘The Secret’ have tried hard to explain this phenomenon scientifically, and as such, it is now known as ‘The Law of Attraction’. Before you become tempted to try and discredit this, you should bear in mind that it is something which has been proved scientifically. Scientific experiments have proven that the law of attraction allows a person to manifest what they want, providing they can communicate with the subconscious mind successfully.

Admittedly, this may sound a bit far fetched, but thanks to advances in quantum physics, it has been possible to prove that many of the ancient religions have been right all along in saying that the reality we live in is simply a product of the human mind. Even mysteries such as psychic capabilities, has been explained in scientific terms thanks to advances in quantum physics.

One thing is for certain and that is that the subconscious mind is significantly more powerful than what people tend to realize. As such, you should never overlook or ignore the potential benefits you to stand to gain once you discover how to control and manipulate your subconscious mind. Not only will it enable you to change certain behavior traits such as bad habits, but it will also allow you to live a life you never thought possible.

Astral Projection Techniques Anyone Can Try

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Fortunately for those who want to learn how to astral project, there are a number of techniques which can help. Of course, even though one technique may work for someone, that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for everyone, because after all, we are all unique individuals. Interestingly enough, the vast majority of people who experience difficulty with some of the techniques, do so simply because there are unable to relax sufficiently.

It simply cannot be stressed enough that total relaxation is vital if you are to achieve any measure of success with astral projection. The inability to relax seems to be more prevalent between those just starting out, largely because of fear. For the most part, this fear stems from the misconception that one can be harmed, or even die, because of the actual projection. Interestingly enough, the Canterbury institute which is renowned for their occult studies, conducted specific research in order to eliminate these fears.

With 2,000 participants, all of whom participated in astral projection, the Canterbury institute determined that not even one person suffered any harm. Furthermore, all participants were then monitored for a period of three years and during this time none of them came forward with any complaints or reports of problems.

Now that we’ve nipped the fear issue in the bud, let’s take a look at a few of the astral projection techniques, all of which have helped a great number of people in the past. The good news is; all these techniques are also relatively easy. The first technique which we’ll discuss is known as the Monroe Technique and it consists of seven main steps:

* Relaxing your mind and body is essential. There are of course numerous relaxation techniques which one can use, but the easiest and the most popular one involves deep breathing and the relaxing of your muscles. This requires you to inhale and exhale deeply and also to tense and release your muscles one at a time starting at your toes.

* Reaching the hypnotic state of mind. Essentially, this is a state of mind where your mind and body are right on the brink of going to sleep. Of course, you should not actually fall to sleep and in order to avoid doing so, it is advisable that you use the gazing method. This involves focusing on any object in the room while you lie on your bed. Simply continue staring at the object until such time that your eyes close even though you can still see the object in front of you.

* Once you reach a stage where you can still see the object even though your eyes are closed, you then need to deepen the state you’re in. In order to do this, you should keep your eyes closed and start looking around, taking note of all the things you can see. During this stage it is not uncommon to see various light patterns and a purple glow. However, one shouldn’t pay too much attention to this but instead, one should stay focused until such time that the light disappears. Once you no longer see the light you will have moved into a deeper state of relaxation. By this stage you mind and body is so relaxed that you will more than likely no longer be aware of your physical body.

* This next step which revolves around a state of vibration is extremely important according to Monroe. Also, most people who are involved with the actual projection to indicate that these vibrations become noticeable in the early stages of projection. In fact, it is said that these vibrations signal the time when your astral body begins to separate from your physical body. This is a perfectly normal phenomenon and as such, there is no reason for concern.

* Controlling your state of vibration. In order to control the vibrations one should focus on moving them through your body. Using your mind, you should attempt to spread these vibrations over your entire body so that it feels as though there are waves washing over you. You need to keep practicing this until such time that you can bring on these waves whenever you choose, and once you are able to do that, you’re ready to leave your physical body.

* One of the most important factors with regards to astral projection, is having the ability to control your mind so that it’s your mind that is in power. Interestingly enough, Monroe suggests that you first practice partial separation in order to strengthen this control. Even though you should continue to focus on the idea of leaving your body, you should only allow a foot or hand of the astral body to go. Ideally, you should attempt to stretch them towards an object which is near you, and when you reach that object you should push your hand or foot straight through it. Once you manage to do this successfully, allow your hand or foot to return to your physical body and then begin to slow down the vibrations in order to end your session.

* This next step involves total separation from the physical body so once again, following all the previous steps, you now attempt to release your entire body rather than only a hand or foot. This stage is practically the same as partial separation apart from the fact that you now want your entire astral body to separate from your physical body. In order to achieve this you should be focusing on just how light your body feels. Ideally, you should imagine your body as being totally weightless, as if it were made of feathers which are blowing away on a breeze. As your astral body leaves your physical body you will experience a feeling which could be compared to floating or flying.

Other methods and techniques include the Anchor Technique, the Gazing Method, and the Rope Technique. Ultimately, one should be willing to try the various techniques in order to establish which one works best for you, because you can be rest assured that everyone can find a technique which works for them.

One should bear in mind that it may not be possible to astral project instantly, irrespective of which technique you use.

Fortunately for those who are impatient, rapid advancements in sound technology have resulted in various audio tools becoming available. One such tool makes use of sound waves of different frequencies, known as ‘binaural beats’, in order to synchronize the two hemispheres of the brain. This in turn allows one to enter into a meditative state almost instantaneously, and of course this is the ideal state of mind for astral projection.

Those looking for further assistance with regards to relaxation can also make use of hypnosis recordings which have been created specifically for the purpose of astral projection. These recordings work by targeting the subconscious mind in order to reinforce the idea that it’s perfectly acceptable for you to leave your physical body.

It simply cannot be denied that astral protection is a life changing experience, and this is something which anyone will attest to once they have experienced it. Fortunately, it is something anyone can do, particularly if you use one of the many techniques available.

Astral Projection - A Simple Explanation

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

Astral projection is something that you already have some awareness of. No doubt you’ve heard the phrase used in conversation, in a movie or TV program or seen it in a book or magazine. What you might not know is that you can astral project; anyone can, in fact. Youve already done so, though you might not remember it.

Just what is astral projection though? Essentially, astral projection is what happens when your non-physical, or astral body separates from your physical body. This happens most commonly while you sleep. Your subconscious mind is the seat of the astral body and when your conscious mind and your physical body rest, it heads out on its own.

Many children actually astral project without being aware of what they are doing. It happens usually when the body is relaxed or even when they are asleep. Time and distance do not mean anything when talking about astral projection. The astral body can travel without these considerations.

For those that may not be aware of the various bodies other than the physical. Astral projection is done with the astral body. It is often referred to as the ethereal body because of both its duplication of the physical body and its lack of substance. It is in essence an invisible body. The in turn leads to the question of how is the astral body attached to the physical body. The answer is it is attached with what is often referred to as the silver cord.

The astral body is immediately connected to the physical body upon entering it with this silver cord, this cord cannot ever be broken except through death. This cord actually protects the physical body from losing the astral body.

Where is it exactly that we go when astral projecting? You visit the astral plane which is to the physical universe as your astral body is to your physical body. There is no universal agreement among the experts about exactly how the astral plane is structured but most agree that the astral plane is an alternate reality which vibrates at a different rate than our own, just slightly out of sync with the universe we inhabit physically and that there are many different levels to the astral plane..

After learning this information, it is only natural to start to wonder if there are any dangers to astral project. The answer is not as simple as a straightforward yes or no. While astral projection is something that everyone is capable of doing and that the astral body is attached to the physical body by a tie that can only be broken by death there is still a need to remain conscience of what is going on while astral projecting and be in a state to maintain that frame of mind.

The greatest danger when astral projecting comes with the mind is not carefully prepared or under the influence of thought and perception, altering substances such as drugs or alcohol. There are a number of levels to the astral plane. The lower levels are not considered places to visit and are often considered to be unsafe. It is these levels that are easiest to access when under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Exercise the same care you would in a place you don’t know in the physical universe. Just be aware of your surroundings and youll be fine. However, the aim of astral projection isn’t just to stay safe; it’s to practice the ability until you’re able to do it consciously and be in total control of your thoughts.

You can learn astral projection with relative ease and in little time if you prepare yourself. You could choose to take lessons with astral projection professionals who can teach you some techniques. Alternately, you could do as most people do and learn on your own.

There are several books on this subject and you can locate other aids to help you online. One type of aid is that of hypnosis recordings that are created for astral projections to get you into the desired state of mind. This helps you get totally relaxed along with taking you through that various levels. This is often the preferred method over a professional approach, because you can replay the recording as much as you need to get your subconscious mind to get the message about when it is alright to begin to astral project and leave your physical body.

In the field of sound technology there have been many improvements in the area of binaural beats. With this you listen to different sounds in each of your ears. This quickly gets you into the meditative state that is crucial for you to reach to do astral projection with the right results.

You can expect the first few attempts to not be as successful as you would like them to be. Astral projection takes some practice to perfect it and get the results you want. Remember that you have the ability already, all of us have the ability to do astral projection, we have just over time forgotten the method and just need to tune our own natural ability to do it.

If you are still unsure, that astral projection is something that is known to everyone consider these things. Have you ever felt like you were falling, even though you were standing or laying still, how about dreaming about flying. Often times this is the result of astral projection. The falling feeling usually comes when the two bodies rejoin each other and the sensation of flight comes from actually moving through the astral plane. It is a real ability that everyone has, everyone can use and all it needs is a bit of fine-tuning in order to be able to do it at will.

Application And History Of Yoga

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The word yoga is derived based from the ancient language known as Sanskrit, and it means Union. It is an influence in the Darsana School. It is one of the 6 darshans, the orthodox systems of Indian philosophy; although its influence pervades many Indian philosophies. The original yoga scripts date back to around the second Century BC when they were written by Patajali. Early Hindu Vedic texts speak of ecstatic, who may have been the predecessors of yogis or followers of yoga. Patajali’s Yoga is sometimes known as Raja or Royal Yoga, to denote its superiority over other schools.

Nowadays, Hindus believe that all things that are living are trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth, which the West refers to as reincarnation and they call samsara. When they have successfully broken this cycle, they have achieved the state of moksha meaning liberation, and yoga is an essential practice in that liberation.

Today yoga has a more practical application and that is primarily focused on the physical practice of yoga, though its basic remiss is still the existence of a spiritual being or god. Yoga practitioners want to acquire spiritual liberation through the state of Samadhi, especially from the bondage of matters when the sense of self can achieve its original pure state. Samadhi is a sense of profound concentration which brings about spiritual release.

Yoga as a practice is a process of 8 linear stages rather than a single act. Before physically practicing yoga it is necessary to make certain ethical preparations, the first is yama or restraint, which is an abstinence from physical injury (ahimsa), as well as lies, stealing, lust, and avarice; and the second stage is niyama or observance, which denotes a clean body, austerity, contentment, and devotion to God.

The next stage is physically designed to make the body more bendable, Asana or the seat, a series of exercises to stretch the physical posture, and make it flexible and healthy. Masters in asana are able to hols the prescribed stretching postures without physical distractions or involuntary movement. Pranayama or breath control is a vital stage in achieving respiratory relaxation by stabilizing the breathing rhythm.

The next stage, pratyahara meaning withdrawal, and it works to control our senses, by being able to ignore sensory inputs and retreat to an area of the brain. These 5 stages are known collectively as the external aids to Yoga, and the last three are internal ones.

The next stage is Dharana or holding on is the ability to hold in the mind an object of meditation, such as the tip of the nose or an image of the deity. Dhyana or concentrated meditation is the uninterrupted contemplation of the object of meditation. The final Samadhi or self-collectedness is the release from the cycle of being reborn and this is achieved when the mediator is the same as the object of his thoughts.

Yoga became increasingly popular outside of India in the last hundred years. Today the tuition is available in many non- sectarian classes as well as the sectarian classes.

Yoga And Relaxation Using Tibetan Singing Bowls

In regular lingo, relaxation implies that we leave ourselves free of anxiety. Relaxing mind could suggest that the mind is not under worry or energetic. In today’s style of life, this seems tough. Isn’t it? These days, many of us think to be being under anxiety during the largest part of the week & relax simply on the weekends. This is accepted as the usual means of life. Is this the appropriate style of living? Is leading a peaceful life forever not our privilege? Let us reclaim it.

Dire strain -

If you pose a query at anyone that why is he/she enduring worry for major part of the week, what reply do you look ahead to get? I have a huge amount of duties to perform, time limits to complete, chores to be fulfilled, things to put in order for the new project etc. Don’t you suppose that something in the vein of this will be the answer?

Lets talk about why majority are feeling strained most of the time. At a certain duration in our existence, when we are trailing behind the wants we lose our practice of sitting back & reflecting. We develop the tendency for providing mechanical answers. Not majority of us react in this manner. We retort in strained means each time encounter any comparable situation. This practice is taking a huge charge on our quality of life.

Anxiety - A means of life.

Weve imbibed anxiety as a method of livelihood. A small number of us wonder about why considering to work at such a wild rate & if in due course, we are going to go away from this world with lots of unfinished tasks, why not at least perform things in a unperturbed manner? What is the point of working so much , if we kill all the enjoyment. In search of a better tomorrow, we eradicate the current. Is it not?

Strained work situation, strained family life, no time to just stroll around doing nothing but look at the nature…Why? It is as if we want to realize most in the smallest doable period & therefore have no time to loosen up Working without rest throughout the week is a method of livelihood for a huge majority. Will it be helpful, if we find time to watch a butterfly flying on our screens? The splendor of a colorful flower. Can it make us little calm? If your reply is yes, download screen-savers & take time to watch them at any moment when you find time while working. Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

Modern science goes about eliminating from the minds of various individuals the very existence and significance of the spiritual being that lies within the physical being.

The Hindu thoughts of life are dissimilar, since they encourage the burning flame of spiritual healing along with the advancement of modern science and technology.

Chakra means Wheel of Light in Sanskrit. There are seven primary chakras as well as many secondary chakras. All of these chakras are continually rotating and vibrating inside a healthy body.

Therefore, any type of imbalance in the movements of chakras will result in an overall imbalance of a healthy functioning body. Chakra balancing then is essential for having a healthy mind, body, and soul.

Chakras are the entry points of the human aura. They run along the mid-points of the body from the base of the spine up to the top of the head. These points of entry are centers of activity. The chakras work by receiving, dispersing and expressing our life force energy. They attract and send out energy back and forth with nature, the universe, other humans as well as celestial entities.

What alters Chakra Balancing?

Energy cannot flow harmoniously through the Chakras when one or more of them are blocked. Blockages result in an imbalance along the Chakras. These imbalances then manifest themselves in other areas of our lives.

The harmonious functioning of the chakras become unbalanced for various reasons such as, illness, toxic exposure, stress, an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise as well as childhood traumas, emotional injuries, an inability to express emotions, beliefs incongruent with Truth, cultural conditioning, and so on.

Chakra Balancing is Essential to Happiness and Health

Natural, harmonious functioning of Chakras is an admirable but unpractical idea. Therefore, humans do attempt to correct this alteration and achieve a fine balance between these Chakras. The theory of self-healing has somewhat of a basis on Chakra balancing.

The condition of our chakras will influence our body shape, our thoughts and behaviors as well as our glandular processes and any recurring ailments we may suffer. Chakra balancing helps our body to work towards achieving a healthier mind, spirit and body.

Since our body is a container for energy, it will constantly release and dispose of any spent energy throughout the cells and vital organs of the body. After doing so, it will then restock its reserve with new supplies of energy.

Chakra balancing ensures that new energy generates and then makes it available for optimal use within all the cells and vital organs of the body, making sure that all have their fair share of this new supply of energy.

Inner peace, health and happiness flow naturally while in this favorable state. Chakra balancing works by bringing the chakras back into the natural state of frequencies and vibrations.
