Wanting to start some yoga classes but not sure about it because you are inexperienced? Well that should not stop you from doing it. Even the person teaching the yoga class had to be taught at some point. Just like everything in life, you need to actually have a first time where you learn how to do it. Yoga is no different, you will not know all the move, but you will learn them and when you do you will learn to love yoga.

Yoga requires a lot of contorting and twisting so your clothes will need to be as flexible as your body.

Yoga is all about being flexible and putting yourself into some highly malleable positions, so, of course, you are going to need to dress accordingly.

Your clothing needs to be snug and fit so that the lines of the body can be expressed accordingly.

You also want your yoga pants to be breathable and to absorb moisture. While yoga is a low impact form of exercise and meditation it does burn calories and utilize your muscles to maintain and hold the poses you are required to do.

So low yoga pants are ideal for absorbing moisture while doing yoga because the fabric breathes very well.

If you are new to yoga, you will need to realize the importance of good fitting clothes. You need them to move as much as you do while performing yoga.

Style might come in a close 2nd when it comes to yoga attire, but don’t worry because there are plenty of stylish yoga pants.

The Best Yoga Clothes For Your Bikram Yoga Class

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Assuming you have read my last foray into the yoga clothes article world, “What Yoga Clothes Should I Wear To A Bikram Yoga Class”, you’ll remember that I told you that Bikram Yoga is a sort of “hot house yoga”. Now I’d like to further delve into the concept that there may be particular types of yoga clothes that you’ll want to buy for your next Bikram Yoga class.

Yoga Pants You realize that there are a number of differing models of yoga pants. You can get those Capri styles that only go to just below the knee, or choose a full length model. Some people just prefer to wear Bermuda shorts which are O.K.

Obviously you are going to have to choose between a more form fitting style and those flowing yoga pants that are so popular. The form fitting ones are great because they offer an opportunity for your instructor to be able to spot whether or not you are performing the poses right or not.

The advantage of flowing yoga pants is that they can hide areas of your body that you dont want revealed to the general public. This may be out of modesty or just because you dont look as good as you soon will.

Yoga Wear Tops I think you will find that choosing which yoga wear top to buy is very similar to buying those yoga pants. You still need to pick between tighter fitting or more loose and flowing garments. You might opt for a t-shirt style or even a tank top made of cotton or silk. I like to have an Om symbol on mine.

There are many styles to choose from when purchasing yoga wear tops so you will have an endless supply from which to pick for your hot and sweaty Bikram yoga class.

Yoga Shoes I don’t know how many people even bother with yoga shoes. Most folks just prefer to practice in their bare feet. Even so, there are a number of shoes designed specifically for yoga practice. You may want something like this if you ever find yourself wanting to practice on some stony beach in the Caribbean.

I know people who like to wear those little cotton bottomed tai chi shoes. But you might want something with a little more support, like what Puma and Adidas make. These companies are very sympathetic to yoga types.

To sum it all up, buy your yoga clothes because YOU like them. Choose wisely something practical, down to earth and above all, comfortable. You’ll thank yourself for it.

Six Step Guide To Yoga Pants

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

You may not think that yoga pants would be of such great importance, but I’m here to tell you that they are. People always dress for what they are doing and yoga is no different.

There are many different things that need to be taken into consideration when shopping for a great pair of yoga pants. We will go over some of the most important things that you will need to know about buy the right pair of pants.

The first thing you need to take into consideration is the elasticity of the pants. Remember that you are doing yoga, which means you will be bending a lot so your pants need to do so as well.

Second, you need to have pants that look good on you. You want to keep your body covered where is should be covered. But you don’t want super baggy pants that will fall off in certain positions.

Third, you want to find a color that will hide sweat a little bit. The worst color for sweat is obviously gray so you want to stay away from gray and other colors that will show too much sweat.

Fourth, you have to like what you are in. If you feel uncomfortable the whole time then you won’t focus on relaxing. And let’s face it, the whole reason for yoga is to relax.

Fifth, you want to make sure that your pants are made of a material that will not itch you. You can’t be focused on a material irritating your skin while doing yoga. I would recommend that you stick with a cotton or cotton mix material pant.

Sixth, you want to get a pair of pants that won’t make you sweat more than you have to. Not all styles of yoga require you to sweat to death. So, avoid the jogging pants and go for a material that will breathe easy. At the same time you don’t want to be able to see through them.

Keep these 6 pointer s in mind before you run out to the store and buy yoga pants.

What Yoga Clothes Should I Wear To A Bikram Yoga Class?

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

One of the newer yoga systems around today is Bikram Yoga. Often called “hot house yoga” because it is performed in studios where the heat has been turned up to around 105 degrees. As well these rooms will have a relative humidity of as much as 40 percent. I’ mean to tell you these places are hot!

Bikram Yoga is named for its founder, Bikram Choudhury, which he based on the classical yoga style. It uses 26 postures, or asanas, and 2 breath work patterns, or pranayama. Other people have copied this system as it has become so popular.

I think the sweating is a given in any yoga class but with the amount of heat in Bikram Yoga classes you can be guaranteed to sweat buckets. This leads to the obvious question of what to wear in these classes.

The first thing you want to consider is comfort. You want your yoga clothes to be comfortable and functional. Make sure you have plenty of freedom of movement. Also you want a nice soft fabric against your skin.

In that you know that you will be sweating here more than other yoga schools, you want this fabric to be very absorbent. Some work better than others in this regard. No one like the clammy feel of soaking wet yoga pants against them.

Although yoga claims to be a unified system of body, mind and spirit, a lot of people practice yoga to tone their muscles and developing greater awareness. Given this fact, is there anything wrong with wanting to look good while you are in your yoga studio practicing your postures?

Certainly you could just practice at home in a ratty T-Shirt and painter’s pants, but if you’ve worked that hard to look a svelte as you do, why not wear something that will show off all those hours of practice?

This might mean you are looking for something a little form fitting to wear to your Bikram Yoga class. This will show your fine lines AND give you the ability to tie yourself up in the knots that the poses can sometimes feel like.

These sorts of yoga clothes will also let you see exactly what the poses look and feel like; are you doing them correctly?

Trendy Yoga Clothes with a Comfortable Flair

Monday, June 8th, 2009

With the popularity of yoga on the rise, trendy yoga clothes are an obvious choice for the yogi on the go. While you might not think that people think about what they wear to their yoga class, Im here to tell you that they certainly do. Besides, whats wrong with wanting to look good wherever you happen to be?

Whether we’re talking about women’s yoga pant or even men’s yoga pants, it’s good to look for a reliable retailer like Victoria Secrets or JC Penny. I think you’ve probably seen some of these fashions in your own school. It’s good to do some online research before making any purchase, though.

When you are doing your looking around, check out some of the more stretchy fabrics for your trendy yoga clothes. I suppose you could just be satisfied wearing a grungy sports bra and gym shorts, but who wants to look like some gym rat in a yoga class. How are you going to get into some of those awkward poses without a stretch fabric.

Next, make certain that they compliment your body. While you want to form fit, you dont want to accentuate areas of your body best kept hidden. In other words you dont want anythingfalling out or being exposed to the public when you are unaware of it.

After that, choose a nice color that flatters your own look and hides all those sweaty stains. You’re going to sweat after all. It’s what exercise is all about. I want you to feel like you look good in your new outfit because it is important to feel good about how you look.

Also, you want to choose a fabric for your trendy yoga clothes that doesn’t have any itch factor to it. After all, you’re not going to go to your yoga class in heavy wool or a burlap sack, right? Choose something smooth and satiny like raw silk or a nice hemp. Or you could get cotton and/or linen.

I wouldnt wear things like jogging pants as they will tend to make you sweat more than is absolutely necessary. Particularly if you are going to be practicing in one of those hot house yoga places like Bikram yoga does. There might even be particular Bikram yoga clothing available for that particular style of yoga.

Whatever fashionable yoga clothes you decide on, the next time you go shopping, either online or at one of the more popular retail stores, buy an outfit that helps soothe you and eases you into your session. You won’t feel disappointed when you fell very comfortable.
